Rat Root (Sweet Flag) – Powdered | Small Batch

A traditional plant medicine used across many Métis and Indigenous communities, rat root comes from the rhizome of sweet flag (Acorus americanus), a wetland plant found along the edges of lakes, rivers, and marshes.

This finely ground powder is offered in small batches and intended for those familiar with working with strong, traditional medicines.

Rat root has been traditionally used to support:

  • Respiratory health during cold and flu season
  • Sore throats and oral health
  • Digestive function
  • General immune resilience

It is a potent plant and is used in very small amounts.

How to Use

A little goes a long way.
Use a pinch (a very small amount) and add to tea or coffee.

Because of its strength and distinct taste, it is often blended with other herbs such as mint, mullein, or ginger.

Important Notes

  • This is a strong traditional medicine, not intended for casual or high-dose use
  • Use only small amounts
  • Not recommended for long-term daily use
